Graduate Students
We welcome rotations from highly motivated graduate students interested in addressing fundamental questions in host-microbe interactions, symbiosis, reproductive biology, epigenetic regulation, and vector-borne disease biology. Prospective students with backgrounds in molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, cell and developmental biology, entomology, bioinformatics, genomics, or related biomedical and life science fields are encouraged to apply. Application to the Biological Sciences graduate program can be completed through the linked departmental portal.
Postdoctoral Fellows
We seek creative and driven postdoctoral fellows to lead a broad range of interdisciplinary and collaborative projects focused on
- Molecular mechanisms of host–symbiont interactions
- Epigenetic regulation of reproduction, behaviour, disease, and development
- Development of innovative genetic, genomic, and chemical tools to advance vector control programs
Postdoctoral fellows will have opportunities to develop independent research directions, publish high-impact work, and receive direct mentorship to support diverse career paths in academic and/or non-academic settings. Interested applicants should email Dr. Kaur (rkaur55@uic.edu) with their CV including contact information for three references and a brief statement describing past research accomplishments and future research interests.
Undergraduate Research Assistants
Undergraduate researchers will have opportunities to contribute to ongoing projects, learn experimental techniques, and develop critical scientific thinking skills via joining as a volunteer or enrolling for research credit. Motivated students are welcome to apply through several programs at UIC outlined here or directly email Dr. Kaur (rkaur55@uic.edu) with their CV/resume and a brief description of research experience (if any) and research interests. Please note that positions for undergraduate researchers may be limited and are subject to the PI’s discretion.
